Awatere River, and up the Molesworth Valley

Drove 13 k’s up the Molesworth Valley to a campsite alongside the Awatere River. The Molesworth Valley connects Marlborough with Hamner Springs and runs between the Inland Kaikoura Range and the rest of the Southern Alps.

Lots of grapes planted in the lower part of the Valley. Found a hidden campsite that was free, sheltered and sunny. No one else in evidence. Even had Internet coverage.

Drove further up the Aawtere river the next day. Lots of evidence of the river cutting its way through old river bed. A very mobile landscape with flats on farms falling into the river.
