Klondyke Corner

Finally wound down the other side of the pass to Klondyke Corner which provides access to the top of the Waimakariri river and followed a rough track to where I was going to stay the night. Due to the current weather conditions it looked very raw and impressive. Put on my boots and walked up to the first river crossing, about 45 minutes, turned around and went back to the bus.

Weather lifted a bit.

Coloured pools with an intense turquoise in the depths even though the weather was grey and overcast.

Was going to camp here but there were very strong gusts coming from both directions at about 7:00 pm so chickened out and drove back along the track until I found a more sheltered spot.
