Koutu Point

Life is tough. At Koutu Point on Easter Weekend. Just Colleen and Arthur and myself there for most of the time, a quiet and peaceful spot. Just finished a meal of pipis for a pre dinner snack. So far the rain they promised us has not arrived. We are parked on the site of on old mill that used to supply the world with Kauri timber back in the 1830’s. According to a local one-legged dude on a 650 cc quad bike, 400 ton ships were built just up the harbour, loaded and sent off over the Hokianga Bar to England and the rest of the world and there were over a hundred boat builders in the Hokianga harbour.
