Trip to Erewhon, Harper River, Lake Coleridge and Mesopotamia

Erewhon is a 35000 acre property at the head of the Rangitata River in the Southern Alps. The Station includes a large Clydesdale Horse Stud. Erewhon, which is nowhere spelt backwards is where Samuel Butler wrote his novel Erewhon. It was also used in the Lord of the Rings movies. I have unashamedly borrowed the picture below but you can click through to their website.

Mesopotamia is on the south side of the rive from Erewhon but 147 kms or 2hr 52min with lots of dusty gravel road.
