Leaving the South Island

Left Kowhai Bush and drove the remaining 70 kms to Blenheim. Had coffee and a leisurely stroll around town. Decided I would go on to Picton after lunch. Got there at 1.50 and went to the booking office for the Interislander. Can I change my sailing date? Sure says the lady, do you want to go on the 2:25 sailing today? Bit of a rush around to the loading point, but 35 minutes later we were leaving the dock.

Saying goodbye, that is the bus, second from front in left hand line.

Last view of South Island.

Almost last on and the second vehicle to leave the ferry. As the Gods seemed to be in my favour, when I rolled off the ferry at 5:35 pm, I decided to head North while the sun still shone. Got to the Vinegar Hill campground (near Mungamuka) just after 9 pm and crashed.

Bridge over the Rangitika

Lovely spot and free too.

Going to be in Northland before I know what has happened.
